As a member of iSWIM you are expected to abide by the following Members’ Code of Conduct:

Club rules & values

All iSWIM members should:

• When participating in all swim sessions and other events, do so at their own risk. It is the  responsibility of the member to ensure that they are fit to participate and have a good  understanding of sea swimming safety and to not attempt anything outside of their ability.

• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all club members and participants, treating everyone  equally.

• Promote a positive image of the club and aspects of the sport. Never use or condone the use  of inappropriate or abusive language, inappropriate relationships, bullying, harassment,  discrimination, violence or conduct that may be construed as unethical.

• Show respect and conduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasonable measures to  protect their own safety and the safety of others.

• Encourage and support member’s participation in and the development of swimming and  related sporting events.

Club organised swim session

For the club to be protected by insurance on organised iSWIM swim session the following conditions  must be met for all swimmers:

• Swim as part of a buddy system.

o Always be aware of where your swim buddy is.

o No one swims alone.

o You can swim as a bigger group but always with your buddy.

• All swimming is undertaken during daylight hours only.

• When swimming you will wear high visibility swimming cap and tow float. • All swimmers must be aged 16 or older and have the fitness and ability to undertake their  planned swim.

• Each planned swim is risk assessed by a responsible club member, normally the swim leader or  committee member, as to the suitability of the sea state and wind.

• Each swimmer taking part must also carry out their own personal risk assessment. They must  be confident their competence is sufficient for the planned swim.

If found in breach of any of these conditions, you will no longer be deemed to be part of an  organised club swim and the club will not have liability or protection for your swim. You will be  viewed as an independent swimmer.

Clubhouse use and independent swims

• Make sure changing rooms and showers are clean after use.

• Bring your fob with you when swimming.

• We recommend that you buddy up with one other person and do not swim alone. • Club tow floats are available to borrow, please return them to the changing rooms after use,  clipping the belt back together.

• Wetsuits are available to borrow from the sail arch, please rinse and return after use. • Communicate to fellow iSWIM members if you do NOT want your photo shared on social  media
